After nearly ten years of restoration, the Room of Constantine in the Vatican Museums has been officially inaugurated. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, February 26, with the participation of Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Secretary General of the Governorate; lawyer Giuseppe Puglisi-Alibrandi, Deputy Secretary General; Barbara Jatta, Director of the Museums and Cultural Heritage; Monsignor Terence Hogan, Coordinator of the Office for Relations with the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums; and Donna D’Urso, leader of the New York Chapter, accompanied by members of her chapter.

The restoration was made possible thanks to the financial support of the New York Chapter and the Eileen Carlson Estate, whose generous contribution helped fund this extensive project. This undertaking, which began in 2015, is one of the most significant and longest-running restorations to date.

Ahead of the inauguration, a conference was held to discuss the restoration process in detail. Speakers included Director Jatta, Monsignor Hogan, Fabrizio Biferali, Head of the Department of 15th-16th Century Art; Francesca Persegati, Head of the Laboratory for the Restoration of Paintings and Wooden Materials; Fabio Morresi, from the Vatican Museums’ Scientific Research Laboratory; and Fabio Piacentini, the lead restorer and scaffolding coordinator.
