In honor of the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death, the full set of ten masterworks and two border tapestries returned to the Sistine Chapel. This one-week exhibition featured the Blinding of Elymas tapestry, a restoration project sponsored by the Michigan Chapter. The Patron of the Arts involvement in this exhibition was a complete honor for the last time all 12 tapestries hung in the chapel was in the late 1500s.
The hanging of the tapestries earned the world’s attention and was a great way to introduce 2020 as the Year of Raphael in the Vatican Museums. The PAVM is offering additional opportunities that involve our Patrons in this momentous occasion. By becoming a Year of Raphael Patron, your donation will support lectures, exhibitions, and events that celebrate Raphael Sanzio.
